Sometimes things that seem a world apart actually have a lot in common. Military cases and musical cases may not seem all that similar, but they are eternally linked thanks to one company.
SKB gun cases may be quite popular within the military world, though they actually began as part of the music scene. SKB originally manufactured cases to store, transport, and ship musical instruments ranging from guitars to orchestral pieces. These cases became so widely known within the music industry that professionals from other industries began to take quick notice.
Soon after these indestructible cases were recognized, SKB began to receive requests to develop military-grade cases. Interestingly, SKB gun cases are not that much different from some of the musical cases that they produce. In fact, with a bit of imagination it’s easy to see how one case can quickly morph into another without too much difficulty.
While no other industrial case maker started out in this manner, it seems as though various cases could actually be used to transport numerous items. For example, the Doskosport style rifle case can certainly hold its own on any battle field, but it might not be such a bad choice for transporting slim violin bows or flute pieces either.
If this seems like too much of a far stretch for you, consider this: the well-known case manufacturer Pelican actually began as a dive company. That’s right, Pelican was founded by David and Arline Parker in 1976.
The Parkers wanted to find a way to create excellent diving products, so they set up shop inside of their Torrance, California, home and sold mail order products. Years later, Pelican was purchased by another company, though it never forgot its humble beginnings…Pelican still manufactures various items meant for deep sea diving today.
Of course, you may be wondering why anyone searching for an instrument case or a firearms case would look elsewhere. Well, rather than purchasing numerous cases for all of your items, purchasing one case for various items may be a smart move.
Almost all industrial grade cases can be customized to include foam inserts of various sizes and shapes. Consumers that send in different size items to a manufacturer can have one case fitted for numerous items. Why choose an industrial case at all? Well, when you find out what these cases include, it’s hard to imagine why you would consider any other kind.
All industrial cases (including Pelican, SKB gun cases, and Doskosport style rifle cases) include:
- Air and water tight sealants
- Thick, durable, highly resistant shells
- Customizable foam inserts
Additionally, all of these cases can be specially crafted to include a number of additional features such as:
- Specialty pockets and compartments
- Wheels
- Padded handle and shoulder straps
- Locks
While regular gun and music cases can hold an instrument or weapon with ease, most of them cannot go through the abuse that an industrial case can. You may be more at home inside of a symphony hall than a combat theater – either way, the same case will do the job perfectly.
